Amish Chocolate Pie
Amish Chocolate Pie is a classic Amish recipe that everyone will love. It is rich but not too sweet and one piece will have you craving more. Of course this pie must be served with whipped cream and chocolate flakes. With easy preparation and made with convenient pantry items, this pie will be on the table in no time.
1 - 9” pie crust
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cocoa
2 heaping Tbsp. flour
pinch of salt
butter (size of a walnut)
1/2 c. cream
1 1/2 c. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
Line a 9-inch pie pan with pie crust and bake in a preheated 400° oven for 15 to 20 minutes until the crust is lightly brown.
In medium mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, vanilla, and cream.
In a saucepan, heat water on medium heat to just below boiling.
Add flour mix to hot water and stir constantly until thick.
Remove from heat and let cool, then pour into baked pie crust.
Refrigerate for 2 hours before serving. Put whipped topping on top and serve.
Make sure you pie filling fully cools before adding it to your pie crust. Additionally, make sure to refrigerate for up to 2 hours or overnight to let the pie fully cool.
Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
If you use solid chocolate instead of powdered sugar, make sure to add melted after starting to heat the flour mixture.
