Egg Collecting BasketsVintage Amish Wicker Egg Gathering Baskets

From the hen house to your home, our fresh egg collection baskets provide a delightful, sturdy and functional addition to both your egg gathering chores and your home and kitchen decor. Our vintage wicker egg collecting baskets are crafted by Old-Order Amish families to be more than a special egg gathering basket. The special melon basket shape of our farm egg baskets provides a comfortable resting place for gathered eggs and will keep your fresh eggs from moving around and possibly cracking as you transport your gathered eggs to your home.

Each egg basket is built on two round wood hoops set crosswise. One forms the rim, and the other rises over the top as the handle and runs under the basket as its center rib, so every egg basket has a fixed handle that is part of its frame. Around the hoops the basket is fully woven, rim to rounded bottom, in the traditional melon basket shape. The Small Wicker Egg Basket is 9 inches across and holds up to 36 eggs, a small egg basket for children and a few hens. The Medium Wicker Egg Basket is 11 inches across and holds up to 60. The Large Wicker Egg Basket is 12 inches across, for a bigger flock or the garden. Each one is as tall as it is wide, measured to the top of the handle.

These woven wicker egg baskets can also make a perfect Easter basket if you are looking for an old fashioned, antique styled Farmhouse Easter Basket. The timeless usefulness that is woven into our egg baskets also makes them a perfect choice when you are shopping for an old-fashioned, antique style Easter egg basket, and an engraved solid brass plate with a child's name is optional on every size.

Owners use these decorative woven, melon-shaped baskets all around the home and farm, for fruit on the dining table, bread and hot rolls, potatoes and onions, mushrooms from the woods, plants, and Christmas ornaments in the winter. Our woven egg collecting baskets make wonderful additions to your vintage, farmhouse, or rustic kitchen decor. You can also use our woven egg baskets in your gardening as they make wonderful garden gathering baskets to collect your fresh flower, fruit, or vegetable harvest.

Our woven wicker egg baskets also make a wonderful and unforgettably thoughtful gift for any child or adult with backyard chickens or farm chickens. Old Order Amish families along the Iowa-Missouri border weave these melon basket shaped egg baskets with great care, and owners carry them out to the hen house every day and back out again at Easter. Each egg basket is signed by the Amish craftsperson who invests their great skill and the hours of time required to assure that your woven melon basket or egg basket is perfectly suited for your egg gathering or kitchen decor basket needs. The signature is on one of the narrow wooden strands, on the side or on the bottom.
