Personalized Easter BasketsEngraved Amish Wicker Baskets

A personalized Easter basket here is one of our Amish woven Easter baskets with a solid brass plate engraved with the child's name, fastened to the front of the basket before it ships. The basket is the same one the grandparents buy again for each new child: rattan reed woven by hand by Old Order Amish families on the Iowa-Missouri border, over one bent wood handle, with the weaver's signature on the bottom. The plate is the part that makes it theirs. The Extra Small Easter Basket

5 1/2 inches across and 8 inches to the top of the handle: a toddler's first treat basket, or the one that sits at each place at the Easter table with a name on it.

The Small Round and the Small Oval

The Small Round is 10 1/2 inches across and the Small Oval 12 x 9, both 5 1/4 inches deep: a baby's first Easter basket, light enough for a two-year-old to carry once the plate has their name on it.

The Medium Round and the Medium Oval

12 1/2 inches across, or 14 x 10 1/2, and 6 1/4 inches deep: a child's basket for years, and the size often ordered with a name.

The Large Round and the Large Oval

14 1/2 inches across, or 17 x 13, and 7 1/4 inches deep: a big kid's or a teenager's basket, and the size adults give each other.

What the plate says

One line or two: a first name, a name and a year, a first Easter date, or a short message. The plate takes letters, numbers and basic punctuation. Names are checked against the order before engraving; if you spot a typo after ordering, write to us right away so it can be fixed before the plate is cut.

How the plate goes on

Solid brass, engraved and screwed to the front band of the basket with two small brass screws before the basket ships, so it arrives finished. The plate can also be ordered on its own later, screws included, and it screws into the upright spokes of a basket you already have, so a name can be added to last year's basket or a second plate made when a name changes.

Liners and colors to go with it

Every basket on this page comes in Plain, Wine & Blue or Wine & Green trim, and every size from the Small up takes an optional hand-sewn liner: plain cloth in cream, wine, blue or green, or a pastel liner in pink, purple, yellow or emerald, tied in with two bonnet ties. A pastel liner on a plain basket is a favorite combination. The liners are pre-shrunk cotton and wash cold.
