Woven and signed byYoder FamilyMeet the familyAbout This Basket
- Handcrafted Quality: Rattan reed handwoven over a solid wood bottom, with one bent wood handle arched over the middle and wrapped in a spiral of reed, by an Old Order Amish family on the Iowa-Missouri border, and signed by the weaver who made it.
- The Baby and Toddler Size: 12 x 9 inches, 5 1/4 inches deep and 13 inches to the top of the handle: a baby's first Easter basket or a toddler's first egg hunt, with a little more length than the round for a book or a stuffed animal laid flat.
- The Handle Stays Up: The handle is fixed in place, and the 13 inches are measured to the top of it. The woven basket itself is 5 1/4 inches deep.
- Measures: 12" x 9" x 13" tall, to the top of the handle. Contents not included.
- Three Trim Colors: Choose Plain, Wine & Blue, or Wine & Green. The color is woven in as dyed reed, not painted on, and on the plain finish the stain takes to each piece of wood in its own way.
- Optional Extras: Two liners are sewn for this basket and sold right on this page: a plain liner in cream, wine, blue or green, and a pastel liner in pink, purple, yellow or emerald, each tied in with two bonnet ties. An engraved solid brass plate and protective feet are optional too. The basket ships empty, with no liner, grass or eggs.
- American Heritage: Handwoven in the USA and signed by the Amish weaver who made it. Backed by our lifetime guarantee, with free shipping and no-questions returns on every order.
Pamela wrote, "The small was a perfect size for my new grandson." Donna watched a toddler use one at an egg hunt: "He was so proud walking around outside with his basket, finding eggs to put in the basket!" Jessica ordered the liner and a plate, and "Liner and colors coordinated perfectly."
Until 2021 this basket was sold as the Medium Oval Easter Basket. The size names moved down a step that year and the baskets kept their measurements, so a medium oval bought before then is this basket. The Small Round Easter Basket is the same depth at 10 1/2 inches across; one size up, today's Medium Oval is 14 x 10 1/2 and 6 1/4 deep. The baby and toddler sizes are together on the small Easter baskets page. The sizes are the outside of the rim.
In the Plain trim it is a natural Easter basket that takes a pastel liner well, a favorite combination. The engraved brass plate takes a name, a date or a short line, up to 22 characters on each of two lines, and is screwed to the front band with two small brass screws before the basket ships. A plate can also be ordered on its own later, screws included, for a basket you already have. Tammy plans ahead: "After my kids move out I plan to continue to use them for collecting vegetables in the garden." Morgan wrote: "You can feel the sturdiness."
An Old Order Amish family weaves it by hand on the Iowa-Missouri border, in the same community as the rest of our Easter baskets, and the weaver signs the bottom before it leaves the farm. Standard shipping is free, and rush delivery is offered at checkout when Easter is close. Sizes can sell out in the weeks before Easter; the notify-me button on this page emails you when the next one is ready in the Shipping Barn. It ships gift-ready, with no prices in the box, a free gift note at checkout, and a short letter about the family who wove it. Like every basket we sell, it carries our lifetime guarantee, and returns are no questions asked.

Questions About This Basket
Built the Amish Way

Woven on Family Farms
Every basket comes from a family farm in the Heartland, where the workshop sits a few steps from the house and the craft is part of daily life.

Built to Last
The solid wood bottom is cut from furniture-grade layered birch and secured with solid brass nails. A base that will not warp, even after years of use.

Quality Materials
Hardwood poplar posts give each basket its strength, handwoven with natural wickering reed for flexibility and a look no machine can copy.

Signed by the Crafter
Every basket is personally signed by the Amish crafter who made it and arrives with a heartfelt letter from the family.
