A handwoven basket, signed by the Old Order Amish weaver who made it, filled in the Shipping Barn with goods made in the same community: three 10-ounce jars of homemade jam and fruit butter in the jam basket, two jars in the heart basket, three or two full-size bars of goat's milk soap in the soap baskets, two 8-ounce hand-poured soy candles in the candle baskets, and two 8-ounce bags of milk chocolate peanut clusters and toffee bars in the chocolate baskets. The basket stays on the counter long after the jars are empty.

The jams are cooked in small batches from the fruit in season, so the three jars follow the harvest: apple butter and peach jam most of the year, with strawberry, red raspberry or cherry as they come. For jars all of one flavor, the Strawberry Jam, Peach Jam and Apple Butter each come in their own set. The apple butter has cinnamon in it.

No. The peanut clusters and toffee bars are made without the additives that keep chocolate from melting, so the chocolate baskets ship only in cool weather, while the jam, soap and candle baskets ship all year.

The goat soap basket and the wood-handled soap basket carry three bars, Oats and Honey, Vanilla Cream and Lavender; the heart-shaped soap basket carries two, Milk and Honey and Lavender. The candle baskets carry two 8-ounce soy candles in the season's two scents, hand-poured in the same Amish community from 100% soy wax: rose and blossom for spring, the summer pair, Golden Harvest and Berry Meadow for fall, and two Christmas scents for the holidays.

A real one. It is the same rattan reed basket the families weave for the kitchen, signed on the bottom by the weaver, and it carries the same lifetime guarantee as every basket we sell. Most are the 9 x 6 x 3 inch farmhouse basket; the heart baskets are 8 x 8 x 3 1/2, and the wood-handled soap and chocolate baskets use the 5 1/2 inch extra-small basket.

An engraved solid brass plate is offered on every gift basket, and the jam, soap and candle baskets in the 9 x 6 basket also take a lift-off lid. There is no liner on the gift baskets; the goods ride in wood shavings.

The gift baskets ship in the plain finish. If you want Wine & Blue or Wine & Green trim, write it in the order notes at checkout; the family weaves it as a special order for that basket, so allow a little more time.
