Does a liner come with the basket?

No. Liners are optional and sold separately, so a basket does not include one unless you add it. Many baskets offer their matching liner right on the basket’s own page, so if you added it there you do not need to order it again here.

Will this liner fit my basket?

Each liner is sewn to fit one particular basket, so they are not interchangeable between sizes and shapes. The basket this one is made for is named on this page. If you already own the basket, go by its outside measurements rather than the name it was sold under, since sizes and names have changed over the years.

What is the liner made of, and can I wash it?

It is 100% preshrunk cotton broadcloth, the same material the Amish ladies use to make their own dresses. There is no plastic in it. Machine wash on the delicate setting in COLD water and air dry. Hot water or a hot dryer will shrink it, so keep both cool and it should not shrink more than about 2 to 3 percent.

Can I get a liner for a basket I already own?

Often, yes. The ladies here sew custom size liners for rectangle baskets to the outside length, width, and height you enter. A custom sewn liner cannot be returned, since it is made to your size alone, so email us first if you would like a hand with the measurements.

How does the liner stay in the basket?

Some liners have bonnet ties sewn on, and others have elastic around the top that holds the liner all the way around the basket. Either way it lifts right out when it is time to wash it. If this page does not say which one it has, email us and we will check for you.

Are the measurements inside or outside?

Accepted Answer

Every measurement we publish is the outside of the basket. The inside runs about an inch smaller in each direction, since the handwoven walls take up room. When you are fitting a basket to a shelf, a cubby, or a spot on a counter, measure your space and allow about an inch of clearance. Baskets are woven freehand, so they can vary by up to about half an inch.

Standard free shipping arrives in 3 to 5 weekdays. Finished baskets in the Shipping Barn are sent out right away. Rush delivery is delivered in 2 to 4 weekdays. Special orders and custom sizes take 3 to 4 extra weeks before shipping.

We are not Amish ourselves, but we have been close friends with the local Amish community for over 30 years. We operate this marketplace to help four Amish families share their handcrafted baskets with you and preserve this traditional weaving craft.

Yes! Enter your message in the "Order Notes or Gift Message" box during checkout. No invoices or pricing information is included in the shipped box. Receipts go only to the buyer's email.
