A magazine basket earns its keep in the two feet beside a chair. This one is woven to fill that spot and then get up and move: wooden legs underneath, a wrapped hardwood rim, and a solid wood handle standing up through the middle where your hand goes.

The middle panel is what makes it. It runs the whole length and goes all the way down to the wood bottom, so the two sides are 15 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches each and stay separate. The magazines go on one side and stay upright, the newspaper and the catalogs go on the other, and nothing slides into one leaning pile. When company comes, you pick the whole thing up by the handle and set it in the other room.
