This handmade large egg collecting basket is a great accent piece for any decor. Sometimes referred to as a Melon Basket, this wicker basket is 12 inches across, sized for a bigger flock and a full day of gathering, and it holds several dozen eggs. It is built on two round wood hoops set crosswise: one forms the rim, and the other rises over the top as the handle and runs under the basket as its center rib, so the handle is fixed in place and is part of the frame. The 12 inch height is measured to the top of that handle. Around the hoops the basket is fully woven, rim to rounded bottom, and that melon-shaped body keeps fresh eggs from rolling into each other and cracking. It doubles as a garden basket for vegetables, too. This wicker basket is perfect for many uses, from using as a fruit bowl or adding greenery to an Easter basket filled with goodies, and it makes a roomy Easter egg hunt basket. The sturdy woven construction of this egg gathering basket makes it an heirloom quality piece that can be passed down for generations. Plain means no colored trim: every egg basket carries the same warm stain, and on the Wine & Blue and Wine & Green baskets colorful bands of reed are woven into the sides and wrap the handle.
