What size cards fit, and how many?

Standard 4 x 6 recipe cards. The box is 7 1/2 x 7 inches and 6 inches tall outside with room for a household's worth of cards; reviewers call it roomier than most boxes. Cards are not included; the 36-card sets sold on this page ship inside the box, and any standard 4 x 6 card works.

How does the lid work?

A solid wood lid on two leather hinges at the back, closed at the front by a leather strap with a snap; the rail on top of the lid holds the card you are cooking from.

Where does the brass plate go, and do I need the feet?

The engraved brass plate goes on the lid. Protective feet are personal preference. Both are optional on this page.

Are the measurements inside or outside?

Every measurement we publish is the outside of the basket, measured across the top where it is widest.

How long does shipping take?

Standard free shipping arrives in 3 to 5 weekdays. Finished baskets in the Shipping Barn are sent out right away. Rush delivery is delivered in 2 to 4 weekdays. Special orders and custom sizes take 3 to 4 extra weeks before shipping.

We are not Amish ourselves, but we have been close friends with the local Amish community for over 30 years. We operate this marketplace to help four Amish families share their handcrafted baskets with you and preserve this traditional weaving craft.

Can I add a gift message?

Yes! Enter your message in the "Order Notes or Gift Message" box during checkout. No invoices or pricing information is included in the shipped box. Receipts go only to the buyer's email.

What is your return policy?

Your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. You can exchange or return any basket at any time for a full refund, no questions asked. Customer is responsible for return shipping. Return address: Amish Baskets, 5833 118th Ave, Ottumwa, IA 52501.

Do you have holiday sales?

No. Our prices stay the same every day of the year, and popular baskets tend to sell out before the holidays, so there is nothing to gain by waiting.

Woven on Family Farms

Every basket comes from a family farm in the Heartland, where the workshop sits a few steps from the house and the craft is part of daily life.
