About This Basket

  • Handcrafted Quality: Handwoven from rattan reed over a wood bottom, with a wrapped hardwood rim, square sides and no handles, so it sits flush in a cube opening or on a shelf, by an Old Order Amish family on the Iowa-Missouri border, and signed by the weaver who made it.
  • The Small Cube: 10 x 10 inches at the rim and 10 inches tall on the outside, about 9 inches inside: chargers and remotes, the mail, a skein or two of yarn, a child's small toys, or the odds and ends on a desk, a dresser or a bathroom shelf.
  • Cube-Shelf Fit: Most cube shelving has 13 inch openings; this 10 inch cube sits inside one with room around it. The 12 inch cube is the one that fills a 13 inch opening, and the 14 is for open shelves and floors.
  • Measures: 10" x 10" x 10" tall. Contents not included.
  • Three Trim Colors: Choose Plain, Wine & Blue, or Wine & Green. The color is woven in as dyed reed, not painted on.
  • Optional Extras: A lift-off solid wood lid made for this cube, a hand-sewn cotton liner sewn to its inside, and protective feet are each optional and sold right on this page. The basket ships open and unlined and is complete without them.
  • American Heritage: Handwoven in the USA and signed by the Amish weaver who made it. Backed by our lifetime guarantee, with free shipping and no-questions returns on every order.

The smallest of our three cube baskets, for the spots a 12 would crowd: a desk, a nightstand, the shelf over the washer, a bathroom cabinet. It is a true cube on the outside, and the inside runs about an inch less each way because the weave and the rim take their share, so measure what is going into it rather than the shelf it sits on.

The lid turns it into a small box for the things that should not show, and the liner keeps yarn and linens off the weave; both are sewn or cut for this cube, and each has its own page for a cube already home. Three cubes with the feet on weigh about eleven pounds together, so a shelf of them is no burden. The three sizes together are the Cube Basket Set.

The sizes are the outside of the rim; the basket is woven freehand, so allow about a half inch either way. For a 13 inch cube opening, the 12 inch cube; for an open shelf or the floor, the 14 inch cube; for a low rectangle that slides onto a bookshelf, the Small Storage Basket at 12 x 9 x 5 3/4. The rest of the family is on the storage baskets page.

An Old Order Amish family weaves it by hand on the Iowa-Missouri border, in the same community as the rest of our storage baskets, and the weaver signs the bottom before it leaves the farm. Standard shipping is free, and rush delivery is offered at checkout when a birthday or Christmas is close. It ships gift-ready, with no prices in the box, a free gift note at checkout, and a short letter about the family who wove it. Like every basket we sell, it carries our lifetime guarantee, and returns are no questions asked.
