What size pot fits the medium planter?

Measure across the top of your plant's pot: an 8 1/4 inch pot works in this 9 inch planter. For a plant you want to let grow, the 11 inch Basket Planter gives it more room.

Does the planting pot come out?

Yes. The waterproof planting pot lifts out like any pot for repotting or watering at the sink, and the drainage tray is built in, hidden down inside the basket, so water never reaches the weaving.

Is the stand included?

No. The wooden stand, which lifts the planter 5 inches, is optional on this page, along with an engraved solid brass plate and protective feet. A plant is not included.

Can the planter go outside?

It is made for indoor rooms. For a porch or a patio, give the basket a light coat of clear satin polyurethane spray before it goes out and again about once a year, depending on the weather it sees.

Are the measurements inside or outside?

Every measurement we publish is the outside of the basket, measured across the top where it is widest.

How long does shipping take?

Standard free shipping arrives in 3 to 5 weekdays. Finished baskets in the Shipping Barn are sent out right away. Rush delivery is delivered in 2 to 4 weekdays. Special orders and custom sizes take 3 to 4 extra weeks before shipping.

We are not Amish ourselves, but we have been close friends with the local Amish community for over 30 years. We operate this marketplace to help four Amish families share their handcrafted baskets with you and preserve this traditional weaving craft.

Can I add a gift message?

Yes! Enter your message in the "Order Notes or Gift Message" box during checkout. No invoices or pricing information is included in the shipped box. Receipts go only to the buyer's email.

What is your return policy?

Your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. You can exchange or return any basket at any time for a full refund, no questions asked. Customer is responsible for return shipping. Return address: Amish Baskets, 5833 118th Ave, Ottumwa, IA 52501.

Do you have holiday sales?

No. Our prices stay the same every day of the year, and popular baskets tend to sell out before the holidays, so there is nothing to gain by waiting.

About This Basket

9 Inches Across, 9 1/2 Inches Tall
A Waterproof Planting Pot That Lifts Out
Built-In Drainage Tray Hidden Down Inside
For A Table, A Desk, A Bench Or A Shelf
Made By Old-Order Amish Families
Signed By The Amish Craftsperson

Bring nature into your home and add a special finishing touch to your decorating with our medium-sized woven wicker planter basket. With its 9” diameter, this Old-Order Amish handcrafted basket planter is perfect for medium-sized houseplants displayed on a bedside table, desk, bench, or shelf, and the optional wooden plant stand, which lifts it 5 inches, makes it an excellent choice for house plants displayed at floor level. Our woven plant baskets are lined with a highly-durable, waterproof planting pot, complete with a built-in draining tray hidden inside each basket. Water runs through the drainage holes into that tray instead of onto the weaving or the floor. Plant directly in the pot, or set your plant in its own nursery pot down inside, and lift the pot out whenever it is time to repot or water at the sink. Go by the diameter across the top of your pot: an 8 1/4 inch pot works in this medium planter, and the Basket Planter, 11 inches across, is the larger size. It is woven of rattan reed over a wood bottom, with sides that flare gently out from the base, and this rattan planter complements any rustic, farmhouse, primitive, or vintage decor theme in Plain, Wine & Blue or Wine & Green trim. A wooden stand, an engraved solid brass plate and protective feet are optional on this page. This medium-sized basket planter is handcrafted by Old-Order Amish families in the Heartland of the USA and will be signed by the Amish craftsperson who creates your 9” diameter rattan planter basket. (Wooden plant stand sold separately. Plant not included.)

Built the Amish Way

Woven on Family Farms

Every basket comes from a family farm in the Heartland, where the workshop sits a few steps from the house and the craft is part of daily life.

Built to Last

The solid wood bottom is cut from furniture-grade layered birch and secured with solid brass nails. A base that will not warp, even after years of use.
