    In a large sauce pot, melt butter on medium heat. Then add milk, flour, salt, and pepper. Whisk together carefully and keep the mixture from forming lumps. When the mixture starts to boil, add chunks of cheese and cook until melted.

    Pour the rest of the cheese sauce onto greased 9x13 casserole pan. Then add the potato and ham mixture. Mix well if needed.
