More About Lena And Her Love Of Making Sweet Jams And Butters...

Lena grew up in the kitchen with her mother and grandmother. She learned the family recipes to make the finest fruit preserves, jams, and butters as they have been handed down in her Old-Order Amish family for generations. She learned the importance of using the finest and freshest fruits. She learned to respect the importance of carefully measuring each quality ingredient and patiently watching over each pot while it cooked.

One of Lena's favorite items to prepare has always been her family's deliciously-sweet recipes for jams and fruit butters. From the time Lena was a child, her ability to turn each fresh fruit harvest into jams, jellies, and preserves that the family could enjoy all year long has held a special place in her heart.

A Secret Ingredient Discovered Just a Few Years Ago...

As outrageous as it sounded, earlier this year, the ladies in our local Amish community set out to discover if Lena's recipes could be made even more mouthwatering than they already were. This event took on the feel of a community-wide "cook-off" contest that everyone in the community thoroughly enjoyed. Each person was tasked with finding out if they could make any improvements to the age-old jam and spread recipes Lena was using.

Needless to say, there was not much room for improvement available since the original recipes already produced the finest-tasting jams around, but... There was one special "twist" that was discovered during the entire process. It was discovered that if she took out the small amount of water that she used in the recipes to begin the "fruit breakdown" process and replaced it with a small amount of juice instead, it gave her recipes a subtle yet dynamically-delectable new taste and took each of her jam flavors to an entirely new level of deliciousness.
