Amish Friendship Bread Without Starter
A few readers wrote in after we shared the Friendship Bread starter and the bread recipe that followed, asking if there was a way to enjoy the same loaf without waiting several days for the starter to develop. Mrs. Troyer shared this recipe she uses when she wants the familiar taste of Friendship Bread without the extra steps.

Mix topping ingredients in small bowl and set aside.

Grease two loaf pans and set aside.

Cream together butter, sugar, and eggs.

Mix in buttermilk, flour, and baking soda.
- 5
Pour half of mixture into prepared loaf pans and sprinkle half of topping mix over batter.

Add remaining batter between each pan and sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar over the top.

Bake at 325° for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick in center comes out clean.

Allow to cool for 20 minutes in the pan.
