    Preheat the oven to 425. Line a 9-inch pie pan with pie crust and set aside.

    Combine apples, sugar, flour and seasoning (adjust sugar to compensate for the tartness of the apples used). If apples are dry, add a tablespoon of water.

    Pour apple mixture into an unbaked pie shell.

    Cut the butter into bits or melt it and put on top of the apples.

    Moisten the outside edge of the under crust with water and seal the top crust to the sides.

    Cut slits in the top crust to allow for steaming.

    Bake at 425° for 10 minutes.

    Then lower heat to 350° and bake slowly for another 45 minutes or until done.
